This new Twitter spaces chat was started last term with Ruth Maloney and myself. Here is a blog post, Twitter Spaces for School Librarians, written by Ruth to explain a little more.

Thanks that will be interesting and a help to catch up on the various chats!
Apologies For not making it to the Twitter chat but our school year is closing and it is rather manic at this time. We close for the end of our school year on the 15 Dec. 2021 and open again on 15 Jan. 2022. Im hoping to be much more active in the new year as a Founding member!
Thanks for your post @Irene Reid our Twitter Spaces Chat was last night at 7pm where we discussed this. It sounds as if you have managed to get things organised really well to ensure your students are able to use the library still which is great!
It would have been good if you could have joined in last night and shared your story there. I notice that you are only an hour ahead of us in the UK so when we talk again on October 4th at 7pm (8pm your time) you might be able to join in live. You just need to follow me on Twitter @elizabethutch at the right time for the link to the chat. You need to be on your phone not your laptop. I look forward to chatting to you next time hopefully.
As Teacher-Librarian in a large public school in Westville, Durban, South Africa (east coast), we have been very fortunate to have never had to close our doors since the start of Covid in March 2020.
We instituted an excellent tag system for the various areas of the library (this limited & controlled our numbers). We have only 2 students per table and only use every second computer. We have a book sanitising system and books returned are sanitised and kept in a holding bay for (originally 48 hours) but now only for 24 hours before going back into circulation. We have sanitiser wipes for students to sanitise their stations (be it a computer, a table etc.) We also have clipboards for them to sign in where they work or sit (for tracing purposes).
This system has worked very well and has been easy to run. I will post pics up on my school facebook site. https://www.facebook.com/MediaCentreWGHS
