What are your thoughts on teaching through inquiry? It would be great to hear if you are using inquiry to teach research skills and how it is going.
I think that I have only just made the connection between FOSIL and pedagogy... although this article clearly states how this is possible, it took a conversation with my son, a teacher, to understand the important link we are making. If you have had a chance to listen to our latest podcast Redefining the role of the school librarian in education you will hear us discussing the important link between the overall school aims and the curriculum. I am beginning to see how FOSIL can and does provide the link that most schools are looking for. We no longer should be talking about skills in isolation, we should be talking about the whole child and our links with the aims and objectives of our schools.
