External Training

Looking to try something new and enjoyable? Need a bit of guidance from a reliable professional? Sometimes all it takes to really understand a concept is a considerate instructor who knows how to teach at your pace. I bring a depth of teaching experience and knowledge to those who are eager to expand their minds, talents, and skills. I hope these courses will extend your knowledge and understanding of the role of the school librarian and I look forward to working with you.

Building successful teacher collaboration through

FOSIL-based inquiry

formerly - Approaching and working with teachers

This half-day training event for school librarians will look at how to get started with approaching and working with teachers through inquiry. Delegates will explore the important role of school library staff in providing informal professional development for teachers.

This session will focus on using the initial teacher contact form to guide school library staff into conversations about curriculum topics and demonstrate how this can help teachers understand school librarians' role within inquiry.

It is designed for school library staff working across all sectors and is a great introduction to FOSIL (Framework Of Skills for Inquiry Learning).

Raising the profile of your LMS

The Library Management System (LMS) is an expensive part of a school library budget but many do not get used beyond the walls of the school library. Discover the value of lesson planning and how school library staff can bring the LMS front and central into inquiry through one-shot lessons and beyond.

This half-day training event for school librarians will explore the true value of the LMS as a digital literacy tool, giving teachers and students the opportunity to work with the library catalogue within their classroom and from home.

This online session will guide delegates by using and creating a lesson plan, to turn the perception of a simple (and expensive) technical tool into that of a Media Literacy tool that supports everyone in the school community.
